Waiheke Tree Planting

James, Alex, and Me on Waiheke Island

I spent a Saturday afternoon out on Waiheke Island helping to plant some Macadamia Nut Trees on the land that I previously stayed at if you recall from an earlier entry. It was a day of manual labor but I went over with James, Steve, and Alex and we had a good time. There was a frustrating point when after we planted about half of the trees we had a look at the rows and saw that they were all crooked due to some shoddy measuring. Luckily we were able to salvage the work without too much extra effort.

  1. You know, Nate, I used to supervise a tree planting crew on Peabody coal land - they used to hide trees under rocks so I would think they had planted them all. You guys wouldn't think of doing something like that, would you?
