Adventure Race

My buddy, James, had a great idea that we should do an "adventure race." This is a type of race that is run by teams of 4 that involves a bunch of running as well as other activities like puzzles to solve and games of skill to complete. The main part of it however involves running around through the woods and rivers gathering flags with only a satellite map to guide the way. There was also supposed to be a tubing part down the river, but none of us went out to get the required helmets so we weren't able to do it. The event takes about 3 hours but is not an all-out run for the whole time. Unfortunately, James hurt his leg in the annual PwC rugby game the prior day but we still went ahead with the plans. The teams were myself, Paul, Sarah, and Brian on one team and Steve, Alex, and Jay on another vs. a bunch of other corporate teams.

It turned out to be a beautiful day and while we tried hard on the first running event, we started to get a bit more lackadaisical after that and just enjoyed the great weather. The day culminated in a BBQ in the parking lot to celebrate a great day. I couldn't really bring my camera during the race as we spent a lot of time running through the river (especially me as I fell in within the first 10 minutes) so the pictures below are primarily in the parking lot afterwards.

  1. Jenn's dad has done this kind of thing before. It sounds like it would be a lot of fun.

  2. The inner tubes look a little deflated. Did you use them at all
